// PLATFORM: APPDYNAMICS
Keep running AppDynamics – or switch on your own terms?
More than a decade of AppDynamics practice with hundreds of agent and application rollouts in EMEA enterprise environments: we know AppDynamics down to the last health rule parameter. We keep your installation in shape, optimise licences in the Splunk era – and if you want to switch, we know the exit paths.
- Operations & optimisation: health rules, dashboards and agent fleets that earn trust again
- Clarity in the Splunk context: what does the acquisition mean for your contracts and your roadmap?
- Migration assessment: solid exit paths to Grafana/OTel, Datadog, Dynatrace or Splunk O11y
- Success guarantee: agreed goals in the proposal – if we miss them, we bear a significant part of the cost
First step: a short, free intro call – directly with a senior consultant, no sales chain. No strings attached – you decide afterwards.
Your installation is in the hands of people who grew up with AppDynamics: more than a decade of enterprise practice, hundreds of rollouts across EMEA. Whether you should stay or switch, we answer from your situation – remaining contract term, degree of instrumentation, platform strategy. Not from vendor pressure.
// SERVICES
Adapting & running your existing installation
Health rules & alerting
Health rule landscapes that grew over years and that nobody trusts any more: we overhaul thresholds, baselines and policies until alerts trigger decisions again instead of eye-rolling.
Dashboards & agent fleet
Custom dashboards that management and operations actually use – and agent fleets across JVMs, .NET and databases whose versions, configurations and coverage stay under control.
Controller, licence & operations
Controller tuning for sizing, retention and configuration, licence utilisation as the fact base for the next renewal – and on request ongoing operations as a managed service.
// MIGRATION STRATEGY
Your migration strategy: planned instead of forced
Migration assessment
The structured look at the exit: what is instrumented, what has to be rebuilt to parity, what does each target path cost? The result: a solid decision paper with a TCO comparison.
Target platform options
Grafana/OTel for maximum independence, Splunk Observability Cloud as one possible target path if it is the right one for you, Datadog or Dynatrace for commercial depth: we evaluate the options from your situation – vendor-independently.
Parallel operation & exit
Old and new run in parallel until the target demonstrably matches – with OTel as the target instrumentation and a scheduled decommissioning plan including licence exit timing.
// MIGRATION
Stay and optimise – or switch cleanly
Your exit paths if you switch
- Grafana + OpenTelemetry: maximum independence, minimal licence costs
- Splunk Observability Cloud: one possible target path, if it is the right one for you
- Datadog or Dynatrace: commercial depth without the Splunk tie
How we migrate
- Parallel operation until every health rule and every dashboard demonstrably has its counterpart in the target
- OTel instrumentation instead of the next proprietary agent – the last lock-in you retire
- Licence exit with a date: notice periods and switch-off date are in the plan, not left vague
// FAQ
Frequently asked questions about AppDynamics
A measurable acceptance criterion belongs in every proposal of ours – for AppDynamics, for instance, a pre-agreed reduction in false alarms for a defined health rule group, evidenced over a signed-off baseline period – without losing any of the mandatory alerts defined up front; alternatively, a migration assessment with a solid TCO comparison your procurement team can verify.
If it is missed, our fee is reduced significantly – that is how we share your project risk, transparently governed in the contract.
AppDynamics has been part of Cisco since 2017; Cisco completed the acquisition of Splunk in early 2024 (announced in 2023). Current contracts remain unchanged.
- The product continues independently with its own roadmap, now under the Splunk AppDynamics brand
- Observability Cloud is Cisco’s strategic cloud-native observability product; a forced move there has not been publicly announced
Those who plan now decide the timing and target platform themselves, instead of reacting under pressure later.
That depends on remaining contract term, degree of instrumentation and your platform strategy. A well-run installation can carry you for years; a planned exit is still often cheaper than a forced one. Our migration assessment delivers an open-ended decision paper – staying and optimising is an equally valid outcome for us.
Usually several months, during which old and new run in parallel – exactly how long is determined by the number of instrumented applications and your dashboard and alert landscape. With OTel as the target instrumentation, it is the last re-instrumentation of its kind: every further backend switch afterwards starts with a collector configuration instead of in your code. Dashboards and alerts are rebuilt to parity.
Yes, gladly: health rule maintenance, agent upgrades and dashboard evolution as a managed service. Staying is a legitimate strategy when it is a deliberate choice.
