// PLATFORM: GRAFANA & LGTM
Grafana that doesn't buckle at the first growth spurt
Anyone can build dashboards. We build Grafana platforms for high cardinality and business-critical alerting. We size Mimir, Loki and Tempo so they carry your data growth – self-hosted or in the cloud, with OpenTelemetry as the foundation.
- An LGTM architecture that grows with you: Mimir, Loki and Tempo sized correctly instead of rescued after the fact
- Alerting as code: migrations and changes via API – versioned, tested, auditable
- Migration paths from AppDynamics, New Relic and Splunk – in orderly parallel operation instead of a big bang
- Success guarantee: acceptance criteria such as alert parity are stated in the proposal – we share your project risk, the terms are set out transparently in your contract
First step: a short, free intro call – directly with a senior consultant, no sales chain. No strings attached – you decide afterwards.
You get a team that knows both worlds: a decade of commercial enterprise APM and today’s open-source reality. We know where Grafana projects fail – uncontrolled cardinality, alerting chaos, lack of operational maturity. We get that out of the way before it holds up your project.
// SERVICES
What we do for you with Grafana
Architecture & scaling
Mimir, Loki and Tempo clusters designed for your cardinality and ingest volume – including retention strategy, object storage design and capacity planning before things catch fire. Kubernetes included: cluster telemetry via Alloy and eBPF auto-instrumentation with Beyla where code changes are off the table.
Unified Alerting & migration
We run your alerting migration as an orderly project – across major versions, between instances, or out of legacy installations. With Grafana 11 the legacy alerting engine is removed; the upgrade migrates automatically to Unified Alerting. On rule sets that grew over years, however, that conversion isn't always clean. The typical stumbling blocks are notification policies, silences and templating. We migrate your rule set in a controlled way beforehand and verify every rule in the target. Datasource remapping and handover to your team included.
Dashboards as code
Dashboards from Git instead of click sessions: provisioned, versioned, reviewable. Your teams change them via pull request – and no dashboard disappears without a trace any more.
OpenTelemetry integration
Collector architectures, semantic conventions, clean label hygiene: we connect OTel and LGTM so that cardinality and costs stay controllable.
Cloud vs. self-hosted
Grafana Cloud, OSS or Enterprise? We calculate the TCO of each option – licence, infrastructure, staffing plus operations and consulting effort, every assumption open for inspection. We recommend what fits your team and budget.
Operations & upgrades
Version upgrades, performance tuning, alert hygiene and self-monitoring of the platform. Monitoring that fails unnoticed is the most expensive blind spot. As your managed partner we keep your platform current and your alerts precise – with clear response times. More on Managed Observability →
// TYPICAL PATTERNS
Three Grafana patterns we build again and again
Alert migration without flying blind
Lifting production alerting across major versions: the migration runs automated via the Ruler API. Only when every rule demonstrably fires in the target system does the old alerting go offline.
Alerting that knows your business hours
Business hours and public holidays are modelled as a dedicated time series – via a calendar metric, complemented by mute timings for the edge cases. Alert conditions hook into it: quiet outside business hours, full sharpness from the first minute. No 3-a.m. noise, no duplicated rules.
Real-time visibility into critical data pipelines
Dashboards for latency-critical data streams – throughput, sequence gaps and connection status at a glance, prepared for teams without prior Grafana knowledge. Bottlenecks surface before they have consequences.
// MIGRATION
Switching to Grafana – when it pays off, and only then
We migrate from
- AppDynamics – including health rules, dashboards and agent strategy
- New Relic and Instana – with OTel as the future-proof foundation
- Splunk Enterprise (ingest/log costs) and Splunk Observability Cloud (host and MTS costs): logs to Loki, metrics to Mimir, traces to Tempo – each on its own object storage
- Prometheus sprawl that just grew – consolidated instead of left to spread
What you get
- Parallel operation with demonstrable dashboard and alert parity
- OpenTelemetry instrumentation that turns the next switch from a code question into a routing question
- A documented decommissioning plan for the old system – including the licence exit
- A team that already knows where it will pinch
// FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Grafana
We tie our fee to your goals. The proposal contains measurable acceptance criteria – for instance dashboard and alert parity after a migration, or defined query latencies after a scaling project. If we miss the goal you signed off, it comes at our expense – noticeably so; the terms are set out transparently in your contract before the project starts.
That is decided by team, compliance and data volume. We calculate all three options against each other – licence, infrastructure and the operational effort most comparisons leave out. Roughly:
- OSS is powerful, but demands operational maturity.
- Cloud buys the operations off you, but its price scales with usage.
- Enterprise pays off from certain governance requirements onwards.
Yes – if the architecture is right. Mimir, Loki and Tempo scale horizontally over object storage and, sized correctly, carry enterprise workloads. In practice the limit is almost never the stack, but uncontrolled cardinality, missing label hygiene and queries without limits – exactly where we start before the platform goes live.
Typically a few months in parallel operation, smaller landscapes faster. The deciding factors are the degree of instrumentation and the number of dashboards and alerts. In the workshop you get a solid estimate for your landscape instead of a one-size-fits-all answer.
Grafana Labs implements Grafana excellently. But we first examine whether Grafana is even the right choice for you – with experience from the Datadog, Splunk and Dynatrace worlds. And we stay after the project: operations, alert hygiene, upgrades.
Yes, as Managed Observability: upgrade management, performance tuning, alert maintenance and fixed expert office hours – as a predictable retainer. More on this →
Let's talk about your Grafana platform
Whether it’s a greenfield build, a scaling problem or a migration: in the Grafana workshop we analyse your landscape. You walk away with a prioritised roadmap, architecture options and a rough effort estimate. The decision-ready detailed planning follows as a clearly scoped package – with a success guarantee on the agreed goals.
